Green Investment
Overview Leofoo Tourism Group prioritizes environmental sustainability by strengthening Green Supply Chain Management. Beyond sourcing from social enterprises and local smallholders, we prioritize products with Fair Trade, traceability, and eco-friendly certifications. By integrating sustainability principles into our supplier management mechanisms, we leverage our corporate influence to encourage—and require—suppliers to provide high-standard, eco-friendly goods. Furthermore, we conduct irregular on-site audits of food sources to guarantee quality and integrity. Notably, Courtyard by Marriott Taipei has served as a model site, achieving the AMOT Traceability Restaurant Certification for six consecutive years as of 2024.
Guided by ecological friendliness, we were the first five-star hotel group in Taiwan to completely remove shark fin from all restaurant menus. We actively advocate against the consumption of shark fin and the trade of animal horn or scale products. Our culinary philosophy rests on four pillars: "Natural Ingredients," "Healthy Cooking," "Earth-Friendly," and "Local Freshness." We maintain a strict zero-waste policy: "Everything served on the plate must be edible."
Strategic Goals
Leofoo Tourism Group continues to advance its CSR environmental missions through the following strategic milestones:
1. Green Lodging
-
Certifications: Courtyard by Marriott Taipei earned the EPA Green Mark Hotel (Silver), and Leofoo Resort Guanshi was certified as a Green Hotel.
-
Energy Efficiency: Replacing all damaged bulbs with LED energy-saving lighting.
-
Eco-friendly Amenities: Phasing in environmentally friendly toiletries and cleaning agents to reduce chemical pollution.
-
Resource Conservation: Implementing "towel and linen reuse" programs for stay-over guests; recycling room key card sleeves and enforcing strict waste sorting.
-
Waste Reduction: Using water-soluble toilet tissue to minimize environmental impact.
2. Green Dining
-
Local Sourcing: Prioritizing local ingredients to reduce "food miles" and GHG emissions. Local procurement in Nangang and Guanshi reached NT$5 million, earning the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Buying Power Award (Second Prize).
-
Green Restaurant Certification: Sunrise All Day Dining (Taipei) and Phoenix Restaurant (Guanshi) achieved EPA Green Restaurant status.
-
Plastic Reduction: Replacing plastic straws with paper alternatives and using glassware for welcome drinks to eliminate single-use paper cups.
-
Waste Management: Enhancing guest count forecasting to control prep volumes and repurposing unused processed ingredients to minimize food waste.
3. Energy Saving & Circular Economy
-
Internal Operations: Promoting double-sided printing on recycled paper, reducing physical promotional materials, and purchasing eco-certified paper.
-
Circular Economy Initiatives: * Utilizing vermicomposting bins and food waste recycling to produce organic fertilizer.
-
Our "Satoyama" eco-farming produced 5.4 tons of organic crops (pumpkins, sweet potatoes, etc.), with "ugly produce" repurposed as animal feed.
-
Animal Waste Composting: Since 2022, our composting machine has produced 36 tons of organic fertilizer for use on our Guanshi farm.
-
Brand-Wide Implementation
-
Water Conservation: Leofoo Resort Guanshi features shower-only bathrooms (no bathtubs) and uses water-saving certified fixtures.
-
Energy Management: Centralized temperature control in public areas and restaurants, aiming for an average annual energy saving of 1%.
-
Carbon Reduction: By prioritizing local procurement (totaling NT$1.83 million for specific regional sourcing), we significantly reduce the carbon footprint of our supply chain logistics.
